This is the most famous beach in Greece. It lies on the western shore of Zakynthos among a unique landscape of steep hills coming down to the sea. On the beach lies a shipwreck which gives the beach its famous name. In 1980 (1981?) this ship was trying to escape Navy ships tailing it as it was alleged to smuggle cigarettes. The ship came across bad weather and was abandoned only to be washed ashore and give this beach its characteristic name.
